SUNY - University at Albany is located at 1400 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12222 - New York State's capital - the University is convenient to Boston, New York City and the Adirondacks. Located in the state capital, Albany is within minutes of the State Legislature, the courts, and headquarters for all service agencies of the largest state government in the nation. The city itself is a vibrant center for culture and entertainment. Its centerpiece is the Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza, a governmental center that includes the New York State Museum and Library and major performing arts and convention facilities. Albany is also home to the Pepsi Arena, a 15,000-seat venue for major entertainment and sporting events.

University at Albany was established in 1844 and designated a University Center of the State University of New York in 1962. The University at Albany's broad mission of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research and public service engages 17,000 diverse students in ten schools and colleges across three campuses.

With its ten schools & colleges, including our Honors College, the University at Albany has long been recognized for its selective undergraduate programs and nationally recognized graduate programs. With a research profile of over $200 million, it ranks among the nation's top public universities.

Our racially and geographically diverse graduate student body of more than 5,000 students creates a lively intellectual and social atmosphere that will enhance your academic work.

    More than 2,000 full-time graduate students and 3,000 part-time graduate students study in 123 programs leading to advanced certificates and master's and doctoral degrees. Graduate students currently represent over 30 percent of the University's enrollment. Many graduate programs are nationally ranked.
