845-897-4377
Fishkill Farms, a NOFA-NY certified organic CSA farm offering pick-your-own apples, fruits, and vegetables, is located at 9 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Junction NY 12533, Dutchess County in the mid-Hudson Valley.

From Fishkill Farms: "Fishkill Farms is a historic apple orchard that has been in the Morgenthau family for nearly 100 years. After leasing the farm to outside management for a period, Robert and Josh Morgenthau, the second and third generation of the farm family, took the operation back in 2007. Soon, a team began to develop, and Josh took over management of the farm. With the hard work and dedication of the team, Fishkill Farms has grown from a conventionally farmed apple orchard in need of new trees and new tractors, into a diversified, ecological farm with new orchards and infrastructures.

"Here are the additions to the farm in the past few years: 15 acres of diverse vegetable plantings, pasture-raised hens, many acres of new fruit trees, farmer's markets nearby and in New York City, and a pick-your-own CSA. The mission of the farm has been to marry its historic identity as a family u-pick apple orchard, with the Fishkill Farms team's shared goals of diversification and environmental stewardship through sustainable farming methods."

    845-943-8699
Hearty Roots Community Farm, a CSA Farm offering a few fruits and many vegetables, uses the practice of regenerative farming. Hearty Roots is located at 223 Pitcher Lane, Red Hook, NY 12571, Dutchess County in the Hudson Valley.

From Hearty Roots: "We are a Community Farm, providing fresh food and a better environment for our neighbors in the Hudson Valley and New York City. Through our CSA, we offer delicious, top-quality vegetables and eggs. Using sustainable farming practices, we aim to improve our soil and ecosystem. In return, our community supports the farm, by becoming members of our CSA."

    Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
"Our Farm Share program is based on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. CSA is a mutually beneficial relationship between farmers and community members that keeps working agricultural land in production. Community members support the farm by purchasing a Farm Share before the growing season. In return, the farmer takes good care of the land while growing tasty, healthy food. The bounty of the farm is then returned to the Farm Share members, who receive a variety of fresh produce every week throughout the growing season."

Hearty Roots is a family farm using sustainable practices to grow the freshest, healthiest, tastiest food for our community. The farm is run by Ben and Lindsey Shute along with a great crew of ambitious and hard-working young farmers. Based on 70 acres in Clermont, NY, the farm currently grows about 25 acres of vegetables per year, cares for a flock of laying hens, and manages another 25 acres of pasture and fallow fields.

    Our farming practices
Our goals in farming are to create a product that is healthy for you, for our community, and for the land. That means that we only use natural products that are organically approved in our soil and on our plants; we seek to improve our soil’s health and fertility in the long term; we am to play a positive role in our ecosystem rather than fighting against it; and we pay our workers a fair wage and offer health care.

We base our growing practices around organic standards, using only natural sources of fertilizer and organically approved products for pest control. We do not seek certified organic status from the USDA due to the cost of the program; our CSA members have a direct connection to the farm, and many of them visit the farm every week. That is more meaningful certification than a bureaucratic program could ever achieve.

      Eggs at Heraty Roots Farm
We go to great lengths to produce the highest quality eggs, with deep orange yolks that are packed with nutrients. It is almost impossible to find pastured, non-GMO eggs in a supermarket, and we are proud to be providing you with exceptional eggs and our chickens with happy lives.

Our hens are raised outdoors, running around on our pastures. There they can peck at seeds in the ground, munch on grasses and clover, and eat the natural, non-GMO grain that we provide. They sleep and lay their eggs in the mobile hen houses that we move every week or two, ensuring that they can access fresh ground.

In the winter, the hens are sheltered in a big greenhouse, to provide them with an area to roam that is out of the wind and snow; but they still have access to the outdoors all day. When there is deep snow on the ground, the egg yolks get a bit yellower as the hens are eating less green grass outdoors; our chickens eat with the seasons, just like our CSA members.
