THE FIRST UNITARIAN SOCIETY OF WESTCHESTER
Reverend Peggy Clarke, Minister
25 Old Jackson Avenue
Hastings-on-Hudson, New York 10706

The First Unitarian Society of Westchester is a liberal religious congregation shaping the worldin an image of love: Deepening spirituality, Nurturing community and Advancing justice.Unitarian Universalists affirm and promote a common set of Principles which serve as strongvalues and moral guides:

  • the inherent worth and dignity of every person;

  • justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

  • acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  • a free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

  • the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and insociety at large;

  • the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

  • respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.We believe that truth continues to unfold, that revelation is not fixed. Because of that, we do notsubmit to a particular doctrine. Rather than committing to a creed, we commit to each other.We live in intentional relationship with one another. Because we are non-creedal, we are free tosearch for truth individually and collectively. We are open to many spiritual paths and know thattruth is revealed from many sources. These include our personal experiences, the truths ofscience, the Judeo-Christian tradition, humanist teachings, our own reason and conscience, andthe people of faith from all over the world including those from Hindu, Muslim and NativeAmerican traditions and belief systems.
At the First Unitarian Society of Westchester, our Minister Rev. Peggy Clarke delivers sermonsSunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. that challenge and inspire, whatever may be your personalreligious inclinations. Sermons are followed by coffee and conversation and approximatelyonce a month by a Stone Soup Potluck Lunch. Eight times a year, the service is led by one ofour Program Groups, populated by members of the congregation who meet socially and worktogether to plan and lead worship together. Our Religious Education program provides aspiritual, intellectual, educational and social experience for children youth and adults. Socialevents, study groups and social action projects take place on a regular basis.
