Whippoorwill Club is located at 150 Whippoorwill Road, Armonk, New York 10504. The heritage and tradition of the Whippoorwill Club dates back to the mid 1920’s. In 1928, the course was redesigned by Charles Banks. Whippoorwill took on its most unique characteristics when holes 4 through 9 were built on the west side of Whippoorwill Road. Steep terrain, tree lined fairways, and no parallel holes characterized this section of the course. The five most difficult holes on the course are 5, 7, 9, 12 and 14. Charles Banks is credited with the design and remodeling of more than thirty golf courses from 1921 until his death in 1931. It is said that he believed Whippoorwill to be his masterpiece.

The Scarsdale Golf Club is located at Clubway, Hartsdale, NY 10530-0701. The course’s original construction coincided with a surge in golf course construction in the country at the turn of the 20th century. Scarsdale’s original nine holes were designed by Willie Dunn of Musselburgh, Scotland. In the early 1920’s, renowned golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast created Scarsdale’s back nine and redesigned the remainder of the course. This was at the same time that Tillinghast was designing such local, fabled courses as Winged Foot and Baltusrol.
Despite Tillinghast declaring the property as one of the toughest pieces of land devoted to golf purposes, Scarsdale was designed to be very playable. Known for its tight driving areas, fast greens and hilly terrain, Scarsdale is a quintessential shot maker’s course. An errant tee or approach shot often assures bogey, or worse.

Anglebrook Golf Club is a private, non-equity club in northern Westchester created in the mold of the storied Golden Era venues of golf-rich Westchester County. It is a pure golf club in the sense that there is no swimming pool or tennis courts; just golf for golf’s sake. Unlike many private clubs in the area, membership at Anglebrook is not on an invitation-only basis.
In the final design of his legendary architecture career, Robert Trent Jones Sr. created a modern masterpiece on an unspoiled 240-acre site, which features elevation changes of 200 feet. Anglebrook Golf Club opened in May of 1998. In their May, 1999 issue, Golf Digest ranked the course as the 16th best in the state of New York. Anglebrook measures from 4,700 to its championship tees at 7,001.

Pound Ridge Golf Club, an 18-hole daily fee public golf course that plays to a par 72 and measures 7,171 yards from the back tees, is a spellbinding layout that winds its way through hardwood forest and opens to rolling meadows. The dramatic rock outcroppings are truly unique and a stirring visual feature of the design. Fourteen thousand feet of rock walls surround trees, wetlands and water hazards. The course’s five sets of tees are classified by handicap ability, allowing players of all calibers to best enjoy the strategic layout and wide variety of shot-making situations.

Brae Burn Country Club is located at 39 Brae Burn Drive, Purchase, New York 10577 in Westchester County. When Brae Burn Country Club was formed in 1964, it was the first new member-owned club formed in Westchester since the late 1920’s.
At Brae Burn Country Club, the parkland layout is routed through hilly terrain with natural brooks and ponds in play on a number of holes. An old, elevated railroad bed crosses the course, adding an unusual manmade dimension as well. The undulating greens are among the most contoured and challenging in the Metropolitan area. A course renovation completed in 2000 has enhanced the course’s beauty. Architect Ken Dye’s plan reconfigured bunkers, added visibility and restored much of Frank Duane’s original design.

The golf course continues to stand the test of time. Jack Nicklaus, when asked during the 1974 U.S. Open at Winged Foot if he thought Winged Foot was the greatest course in the world, replied, “That may be, but there is quite a golf course down the street.”
In 1969, Jimmy Demaret stated, “Quaker Ridge is the most underrated Golf Course in the New York Area, because it has never been host course to a major championship. I’d like to go on record as saying it would be a tough test of golf for any tournament – the U.S. Open and the PGA included.”

Lake Isle Country Club is a Town-owned recreational facility located at 660 White Plains Road, Eastchester, NY 10709 in southern Westchester County. Lake Isle is open to all residents and a limited number of non-residents. Town residents are defined as those people whose permanent and primary domicile is located within Eastchester, Bronxville, or Tuckahoe.
Attractive and affordable golfing, swimming, and tennis are available on a seasonal basis. The Lake Isle pool complex consists of five beautiful pools: an Olympic pool, diving tank, two kiddie’s pools, and a separate adult pool. Water activities include water basketball and water aerobics. Ping pong, foosball, and other games are available. Play equipment for younger children is conveniently situated in the giant sand-box at the kiddies pools. Waccabuc Country Club is located on Mead Street, Waccabuc, NY 10597. The Waccabuc Country Club was established on September 18, 1912. The clubhouse was originally a private home that, in 1912, was converted into the Lake Waccabuc Inn, a country resort / retreat. One of the first things the new owners did was add a nine hole golf course. In 1923, plans for an additional 9 holes were proposed and later implemented. Waccabuc Country Club is now a beautiful 18 hole golf course.
USGA rules govern all play except where modified by local rules. Embedded ball rule is in effect through the green. All fences surrounding the course are boundaries; no free relief. Please avoid slow play. A round should be completed in 4 hours or less. Cellular phones may be used in the locker rooms only.

Saxon Woods Park and Pool, a 700-acre property, is located on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, NY 10605. "Saxon Woods Park contains an 18-hole golf course as well as a miniature golf course, the county’s largest swimming pool, a children’s aquatic playground and picnic areas. It is also the site of the county’s only playground that is accessible to the disabled.
A trail system connects the southern section to the upland wooded northern part of the park, characterized by mature hardwood forests. Dunwoodie Golf Course is located at 1 Wasylenko Lane, Yonkers, NY 10701. Dunwoodie lies at the top of "Dunwoodie Heights" in the center of the City of Yonkers. It is characterized by dramatic topography and steep slopes. Its layout is a mix of narrow fairways to rolling wide landscapes. The design of the course takes advantage of the natural topography, resulting in a challenging game.

Sprain Lake Golf Course is located at 290 East Grassy Sprain Road, Yonkers, NY. Sprain Lake, on 130-acres, was designed by golf course architect Tom Winton and is characterized by small greens, rolling terrain and a number of highly challenging holes, with an abundance of water hazards and difficult shots. Because of its long and narrow layout, Sprain Lake offers a mostly linear, back-and-forth style of play.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park is located at 2957 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights NY 10598, Westchester County. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Park offers many scenic views. The park's spacious picnic areas, which can accommodate individual families as well as large groups, may be reserved in advance. The park's large pool can hold 4,000 bathers at one time.
The park's oasis of blue water, Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond, provide excellent freshwater fishing and boating. Popular catches include bass, perch, and sun fish. A New York State Freshwater Fishing License is required. Both rowboats and pedal boats are available for rental; however, a regional boating permit allows visitors to launch their own rowboats, canoes or kayaks. For an additional fee, rowboat owners may also store their boats. In wintertime, the water's tree lined border provides a winter wonderland backdrop for ice skaters and ice fisherman.
The park's picnic areas have volleyball nets and many have softball fields or basketball courts. There is also a soccer field. Sports enthusiasts may wish to try their hand at Disc golf, a short distance from the picnic areas. You can play either 9 or 18 holes. The rules and scorecards are located at the course and loaner Frisbees are available from the park office. The park’s hills and trails are perfect for winter sports.

Mohansic Golf Course is located at 1500 Baldwin Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Rolling hills and moderately steep slopes combine to make Mohansic the most challenging of the county's courses. There are many tight holes that are an excellent test of a golfer's ability, with uphill, downhill and side hill shots. All 18 tees have recently been fully renovated, and several greens have been upgraded.
