From Brookside Farm: "Brookside Farm is family owned and operated; our farm is committed to the production of healthy, delicious food without the use of hormones, antibiotics or pesticides. We go beyond organic, incorporating management intensive grazing methods (daily rotation to fresh pasture) for our livestock, pasturing or free ranging all poultry and raising all our pigs on a ration of 100% organic grain. Our goal is to provide a gourmet quality, healthy alternative to industrialized food."

Old Fashioned Farming
"Our farm is committed to the production of healthy, delicious food without the use of hormones, antibiotics or pesticides."

    No Antibiotics
Husbandry skills are key to keeping animals healthy, happy and producing a gourmet product. To that end the daily rotation to fresh pasture, the organic mineral supplements and the North Atlantic Sea Kelp all support a healthy environment and immune system that allow us to forego the use of antibiotics. Additionally in the case of cows most feed lots administer antibiotics as part of the cows daily life, to prevent disease that’s caused by their diet of corn and the confined living conditions. Cows are ruminants and their multiple stomachs were never intended to consume corn. They are specifically designed to digest grasses and legumes found in pastures.

    No Pesticides
Flies begin laying their eggs in cow manure as soon as the dung hits the ground. Approximately three days later the fly eggs in the manure pies, hatch into larvae. Before the larvae turn into flies we bring the Egg Layers into the area with all the manure and they scratch at the pies to eat the fly larvae and many other insects. This eliminates the need for pesticides; the chicken’s spread the manure naturally when scratching at the dung so there is no need for fuel to operate a machine to do the same job the chickens do and the chickens produce the world’s most nutritious egg.

    No Hormones
We never use Hormones, as a result our products take longer to finish but there are no short cuts in producing a gourmet quality product.
