Four Winds Farm is located at 158 Marabac Road, Gardiner NY 12525, Southern Ulster County in the Hudson Valley. Four Winds Farm is a 24 acre diversified organic farm of which 4 acres are used to grow vegetables, primarily heirloom and open pollinated varieties for better flavor and for seed saving. The remainder is used to raise lamb, beef and egg laying chickens, which supply us generously with natural fertilizer. Our farm-generated manure compost allows us to grow vegetables using a method that is very different from conventional farms.
Our garden space is never plowed or rototilled. We grow our vegetables in permanently formed beds, some of which have been in place for 10 years. We then spread compost on top of the beds, and plant seeds and transplants directly into the compost. The plant roots and compost nutrients move down into the soil where there is a healthy, thriving community of soil organisms. We find that this technique reduces overall weed pressure and gives us better-tasting vegetables that keep longer in the refrigerator. We also believe that our way of farming is better for the Earth because we are less dependent on energy- and capital-consuming tractors and equipment.

Liberty View Farm LLC, where you can lease an apple tree, is located at 340 Crescent Avenue, Highland NY 12528, Ulster County in the Hudson Valley. Not only can you
Pick-Your-Own apples
, you can select them from your very own "leased apple tree".
"When you come to harvest your apples from your leased tree, we will escort you out in the orchard and show you to it. It is that simple. We assign them when you arrive because there are a lot of things we are thinking about like: we want you to enjoy some privacy we like to have you pick a tree that is not right on top of some one else, if you have little people we like to have them away from the parking meadow . . .
Liberty View Farm, Clintondale, NY
Liberty View’s growers are devoted to sustainable farming practices at their site amid the breathtaking hills and dales of the Hudson Valley. The orchard is Certified Naturally Grown - a designation many smaller farms consider a more transparent, less-expensive alternative to organic certification.
What to Pick: Orchardist Billiam van Roestenberg grows only Empire and Cortland apples and makes sure the fruit you pick is at its prime. He insists, for example, that his Empires be picked only after the first frost—which converts the apples’ starch to sugar and gives them a shocking burst of sweetness.
Most Unusual Offering: For $50, Liberty View lets you lease an apple tree for the season (for yourself or someone else) and harvest it as many times as you like.

Dressel Farms is located at 271 Route 208, New Paltz NY 12561, Ulster County in the Hudson Valley. Dressel Farms has been farming in New Paltz for over 50 years. Dressel offers fresh produce available at the farm market or you can pick your own fruits. Bring the children; kids love to pick their own apples, strawberries, peaches, and pumpkins. When kids pick (u-pick) their own apples and fruit they also learn a bit about farming.
Kids learn how maintaining a farm this size is a year-round job. Winter months mean covering the strawberries beds, pruning the trees and packing the crop just picked. The spring brings planting, fence building and repair, continued apple packing and strawberries in June. July and August are planting, repairs, summer pruning and by early August-peach picking. And then we start all over again.

The Phillies Bridge Farm Project is located at 45 Phillies Bridge Road between New Paltz and Gardiner, New York. The Farm is located on a beautiful and historic 65 acre farm in Gardiner NY. The Phillies Bridge Farm Project (PBFP) is a not-for-profit corporation with the primary purpose of education on multiple issues surrounding healthy food production. PBFP provides direct experiences of food, farming, and the cycles of nature. Since 1995 we have worked to promote Hudson Valley agriculture that is ecologically sound, community oriented, and economically viable.
The Farm to Families Program provides fresh food and a farm experience to low-income families in Ulster County. In partnership with local agencies, Phillies Bridge Farm Project distributes CSA (community supported agriculture) shares to low-income families, and also hosts a farm visit and cooking demonstrations for participants of the program. For some, this is the first time they have visited a farm, picked fresh vegetables, or seen the delight in their children's faces as they taste a fresh vegetable just harvested from the fields.

Huguenot Street Farm is located at 205 Huguenot Street, New Paltz NY 12561, Ulster County in the Hudson Valley.
U-Pick Garden Access
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is where members of the community buy a "share" in a local farm for one season. Shares are paid for in advance and the members then get access to a portion of the farmers harvest from June into November.
Great tasting vegetables at a price well below retail are only the most obvious benefits to being a CSA member. Because you are buying directly from the farmer, we can choose vegetable varieties for taste, rather than how they ship, pack, and look on store shelves.
Choosing to eat fresh, seasonal, vegetables contributes to good health and plays an important role in the local, rural economy -helping to keep small farms - small farms. Items include cherry tomatoes, flowers, an herb garden, snap-peas, beans, gourmet and standard basil varieties, hot peppers and more.

We offer a healthy choice of many of the standard produce varieties as well as many interesting and unique produce and products. We grow all of our vegetables and fruits using certified organic methods. The fruits we grow include: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples and lots of melons.
